2008

>Connecticut Science Fair (CSF) 2007 Finalist was honored at the Connecticut Technology Council's 2008 Women of Innovation Awards (pdf) - Rebecca Reed, a senior at Newtown High School- 2007 CSF UTC and CT Academy for Education's Andrew DeRocco Award recipient, was honored as a finalist at the 2008 Women of Innovation Awards Dinner.


2007

> 2006 CSF DCYSC Finalist- Read about CSF's 2006 DCYSC top 40 finalist and special award winner, Theresa Oei. Oei, then an 8th grade home school student won the National Park Service Exploration Award to the Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Center and Alcatraz National Park, San Francisco, California.

> Ten 2007 Connecticut Semifinalists- Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge. It is a major achievement to be chosen as one of the 400 semifinalists from thousands of middle school students that were top winners of their regional and state science fairs.

> CSF Winners in Stockholm Water Competition - NFA freshmen Samantha Schoepfer and Heather Leask explored the impact of the recently cleared Yantic River Park on the wildlife in the river.  Read more.

> CSF winner Anna-Katrina Shedletsky, Brewster HS, a finalist in the Siemens Westinghouse Competition - Anna-Katrina will compete in Middle States Regionals at Carnegie Mellon University, November 14-15. CSF participants Sophie Lintermans, Robert Sobelman, and Hanwen Yan, all from Staples High School, Westport, and Lisa GluKhovsky, New Milford High School have named as semifinalists.

Alex was a Connecticut Science Fair winner in 2000, 2001, 2002 and an ISEF 2002 Overall Winner.

> Two CSF alumni are regional finalists in the 2002 Siemens Westinghouse Scholarship competition - Alexander Mittal of Greenwich High School and Michael Nyberg of Old Lyme have been named regional finalists. Thirty regional finalists are chosen nationwide. Our best wishes to Alex and Mike in the next round of competition to take place at MIT on November 8 and 9.
[Previous CSF alumni who were Siemens winners are Jacob Licht of Hall High School, West Hartford ($30,00) in 2001 and Mariangela Lisanti, Staples High School, Westport ($100,000) in 2000.]
