Conn. Delegation at ISEF - Awards Summary


CONNECTICUT STUDENTS RECEIVE GRAND AWARDS AT INTEL INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

PORTLAND, OREGON- Connecticut continued its long tradition of science excellence at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

In the Grand Awards ceremony held 1:30 PM, PDT, two students of the Connecticut delegation received grand awards:

* Anna-Katrina Shedletsky, 17, Brewster High School, Brewster, NY, representing Science Horizons Regional Fair: For her project, "Epidemic Outcomes as a Function of Network Topography"

Grand Awards- Second Award of $1,500, Medicine and Health- Presented by Merck Research Laboratories In addition Shedletsky won a special award- o Department of Homeland Security, $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 per year for four years) for work aligned with the mission of the DHS.

* Stephen Ingraham, 17, New Fairfield High School: For his project, "Superluminal Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in the Near-Field."

Grand Awards- Third Award of $1,000, Physics- Presented by Applied Materials In addition Ingraham received two special awards o U. S. Air Force First Award of $3,000; o National Aeronautics and Space Administration, All expense-paid trip to attend the U.S. Space Camp, in Huntsville, Alabama.
