CONNECTICUT STUDENTS RECEIVE HONORS AT SCIENCE FAIR
PORTLAND, OREGON- Connecticut continued its long tradition of science excellence at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.
In the Government and Industry Awards ceremony held 10:00 AM, PDT, our students gathered on the floor of the public auditorium for Special Awards. Special awards are presented by scientific, professional, and educational organizations and include scholarships, summer internships, book and equipment grants and scientific field trips. Two members of the Connecticut delegation were honored with the following awards:
* Anna-Katrina Shedletsky, 17, Brewster High School, Brewster, NY, representing Science Horizons Regional Fair: For her project, "Epidemic Outcomes as a Function of Network Topography"
o Department of Homeland Security, $20,000 scholarship ($5,000 per year for four years) for work aligned with the mission of the DHS.
* Stephen Ingraham, 17, New Fairfield High School: For his project, "Superluminal Electromagnetic Wave Propagation in the Near-Field."
o U. S. Air Force First Award of $3,000; o National Aeronautics and Space Administration, All expense-paid trip to attend the U.S. Space Camp, in Huntsville, Alabama.
The students will return to the Convention Center for the Grand Awards from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
