2004 ISEF NEWSLETTER VOLUME #5

Portland. Oregon

> Anna's ISEF adventures

May 12,2004

We woke up at 7.00AM, took a warm shower and headed over to Denny's. The place was swamped with finalists, all desperately waiting for an American Style breakfast. At the hotel, we put on our 'dress to impress' outfit and headed over to the Convention Center for judging. We met again at 12.00PM for 'lunch on the stairs'. The CT delegation had a delicious lunch Mr. and Mrs. Muller picked up at a local food court. Judging continued until 6.30PM, at which time we all headed over to the Muller hotel room to pick up some tasty Chinese food.

At 8.00, we headed over to the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) museum where we watched 'Infinitely Express' at the planetarium and visited 'Busy town' (to see pictures, visit Anna's site:

We headed to the hotel room at 11.30PM after our fellow scientists offered to sing 'science songs' on the bus. We politely declined and headed to our room to rest up for tomorrow's public viewing.

Everyone was tired of yesterday's judging and was glad to sleep in (well, at least until 8.15AM.) We headed over to the Convention Center at 10.00AM for public viewing. My, there were some bright energetic kids that came to visit our projects. They were all very excited to become scientists.

We headed back over to the hotel at 2.00PM and got ready for a fabulous dinner at the Portland City Grill. Most of us ordered fresh fish (Halibut, Okapaka,...) on a bed of rice (nicely decorated) and got fresh warm baked cookies as dessert! Everyone is looking forward to tomorrow's award ceremony? Connecticut will do great!
