JUDGING


Individuals with experience in the physical sciences and in the life sciences are needed to participate as judges on one of the two days indicated below. The following brief descriptions may help you decide which of the judging activities you prefer:

Preliminary Judging - Wednesday, March 11, 2009, 8:45 am to 2:00 pm

  • View all of the projects in your assigned category
  • Work jointly with other judges as a team
  • Rank projects into 1st (highest), 2nd and 3rd honors; judging criteria will be provided
  • Students are not present

Finalist Judging - Thursday, March 12, 2009, 8:30 am to 1:15 pm

  • View the finalists' projects in your assigned category
  • Work independently of the other judges to foster a one-on-one exchange with the student
  • Projects are scored numerically; judging criteria will be provided
  • Students are present at their projects to describe their work

On Wednesday and Thursday, a continental breakfast will be available starting at 7:30 am and a judges buffet lunch will also be provided. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

To register for life or physical sciences contact >Dr. Treese Hugener-Campbell, Chief of Judging, with a brief description of your qualifications and to get the password for online registration.  Special categories: Applied Technology- Barnes Aerospace; Computer Science- Xerox; Energy-CT Clean Energy Fund ; Environmental- Audubon Connecticut/Arch Chemical; Future Sustainability- The United Illuminating Company; Sustainable Resources and Practices– eesmarts with CT Energy Efficiency Fund; Mathematics- ATOMIC/Webster Bank; and United Technologies Awards.  You may have been contacted by a special categories chairman. If not and you wish to judge one of these categories, contact the awards chair through the links given above. UTC Awards judging is limited to UTC employees or retirees.

Special Awards Judging

If you were contacted by Susan Lessoff, Paul Oei or Bob Wisner, you are judging a special award.  In the comments box on the judging online registration form, please state the name of the award that you will be judging if you represent a a sponsoring organization.

Additional information will be sent to you after the registration deadline. Deadline for registration: March 1, 2008.

To access the form you must have the password that was emailed to you by one of the judging chairs. The login name is 'judge' (all lower case, no quotation marks)
